Milton names its homecoming queen

Mya Waitman was crowned homecoming queen at halftime of Milton’s football game against Mosley last Monday night.
Mya Waitman is Milton High’s 2024 homecoming queen.

Waitman, a volleyball standout for the Panthers, smiled upon hearing the announcement and walked up to receive her crown as members of the court and fans in the stands cheered. Waitman received her biggest embrace from Harper Cooley, the runner-up. Waitman and Cooley are captains on the Panther volleyball team.

The Panthers were supposed to play their homecoming game on Sept. 27 but had to change the date after Mosley couldn’t make the trip due to the threat of Hurricane Helene.

A total of 19 candidates were up for queen and four runner-up candidates were announced.

Cooley finished as the first runner-up while Lily Clark was second runner-up. Lana Wilson was third and Kali Vernon was fourth.
