Athletic Director Ricky Broxson is proud of his student athletes and how they carry themselves both on and off the field.
Broxson was also the head coach of the high school baseball team who took home the state champion title in 2024 and the state runner-up title this year.
“It’s turned into an expectation here, to go out and do well and succeed,” Broxson said. “But we’re doing it the right way – great sportsmanship, character, men and women of God. These guys and girls are winning with class. They’re excited for the future.”
This was softball head coach Melvin Hill’s first year at Lighthouse PCA, and he was thrilled to watch the girls take home their first softball state championship.
“It was amazing,” Coach Hill said. “The girls really bought into our mission all year, which was to compete in state.”
About two weeks before the team went to state, the girls really locked in and won five or six games in a row and kind of had an awakening. After playing an extra-inning game and losing, the girls had a different attitude. They came back to practice the next day with intensity.
“They were focused and ready to compete,” Coach Hill said.
Hard work pays off, because in April they played in the state championship and took home the trophy.
Lighthouse is getting other sports programs off the ground running as well.
“Cheerleading is starting to take off, and we are getting ready to start girls and boys soccer,” Broxson said.
All the Lighthouse sports teams practice and play at East Milton Park, with the exception of the football team that plays at the school’s Gulf Breeze campus.
The school maintains East Milton Park grounds and is continuing to better the facilities. They are getting ready to put in a new score board and press box soon.
Lighthouse Private Christian Academy competes with the Sunshine State Athletic Association. They also play many of the local public schools in the area. The Lighthouse Stingrays have competed and beat schools such as Milton, Jay, Washington and Pine Forest.
“We’ve really created a deal here where people expect to come here and win and be part of a well-developed program where they can utilize both their skills on the field or on the court and in the classroom,” Broxson said.
Coach Morris Jones is going into his third year as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Lighthouse PCA. This talented group of boys have been winning ever since Coach Morris started, taking home the state title for the past two years. The Stingrays basketball team has even won a national title in the past.
The baseball team, coached by Ricky Broxson this year, competed in the national tournament and placed 4th in 2025. Tommy Joy is the new Head Baseball Coach at Lighthouse PCA, while Ricky Broxson is now the Head Baseball Coach for Lighthouse College.
Everette Alford is the Lighthouse PCA Head Football Coach. The team is already working hard and in full swing preparing for their fall season. All the Lighthouse athletes are excited to see what lies ahead for the 2025-2026 season.
The new Milton Lighthouse PCA campus on Dixie Rd. is getting ready for 7th to 12th graders, and Broxson said he is hopeful the renovations will be complete for this upcoming school year.
“We are working on our new Milton campus every day to enhance it,” he said.
This new school will feature agriculture programs, blueberry fields and technology courses for its students.
