Florida Senate Bill 1118 could result in more homes on farmland
Florida has long faced the difficult task of managing growth and development. Here in Santa Rosa County, more subdivisions seem to pop up every day. Locals have said consistently, “Keep the country, country.” But a newly proposed bill could change that with more housing built on agricultural land.
The 2024 Field Day in Jay was heavily attended by farmers to get information from University of Florida IFAS. These farmlands could soon be threatened by development regardless of what the future land use map says.
