The Milton Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance on June 1, 2025. The anonymously placed 911 call stated that a male identified as Herbert Dillard was being physically aggressive to his spouse.

According to a Milton Police Department news release, officers made contact with Dillard who refused to identify himself, fled into the home where firearms were known to be present, and physically resisted arrest. During that resistance, Dillard assaulted one of the officers, placing him in a headlock. Due to his continued resistance, pepper spray was used, and Dillard was ultimately taken into custody. Emergency medical services responded to assess Dillard at the scene. He was medically cleared and transported without further incident to the Santa Rosa County Jail.

Dillard is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, domestic battery, and resisting an officer with violence.

The Milton Police Department encourages you to contact local law enforcement if you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse.
