County warns of scam targeting Allentown Fire District residents

At around 8:30 a.m. CST on September 12, Santa Rosa County put out a press release warning residents of a scam targeting residents in the Allentown Fire District. 

Per the release:

“Allentown Volunteer Fire Department has made Santa Rosa County staff aware that individuals are calling residents in their district attempting to solicit monetary donations by phone. Staff has confirmed directly with the Allentown Volunteer Fire Department that they are not conducting any fundraising campaign at this time, and they do not solicit donations by phone.”

“These calls are not legitimate and are not affiliated in any way with the fire department or its operations,” the release continued. “People are urged to be cautious and to avoid providing personal or financial information to unknown callers.”

Anyone who feels they have been a victim of a scam are encouraged to report it to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, which can be reached at 850-983-1190.
