City of Milton addresses fire risks from illegally occupied RVs
Over the past year, the City of Milton Fire Department has responded to at least four fires caused by illegally occupied campers or recreational vehicles on single-family zoned properties. These fires have resulted in significant damage or complete destruction of the RVs and have posed severe threats to nearby buildings, according to a press release from the city.
Each fire not only damaged the RVs but also risked spreading to nearby structures, potentially causing even more damage. The close proximity of these RVs to other buildings creates a serious fire hazard for the entire community.
Living in a camper or motor home located on a single-family zoned property is not allowed under city policy. This violation not only breaks zoning laws but also presents a major public safety issue that the city’s code enforcement team is working to address.
If you notice an illegally occupied camper or motor home in your neighborhood, report it to the city’s code enforcement at 850-983-5440.
“Your help is crucial in keeping our community safe,” the city of Milton said in the press release.
