Board to discuss new school zone
The Santa Rosa County School Board is scheduled to discuss the new Wallace Lake K-8 School’s attendance zone at a workshop scheduled at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at 5086 Canal Street in Milton.
The new school, being built at the intersection of Chumuckla Highway and Wallace Lake Road, is expected to open in time for the 2023-24 school year and serve about 900 children. Wallace Lake will relieve crowding at S.S. Dixon Primary, S.S. Dixon Intermediate and Berryhill Elementary schools, and some proposed scenarios have some Sims Middle, Pea Ridge Elementary and Avalon Middle students moving to the new facility.
