| Staff Reporters
Volunteer Santa Rosa Day is an opportunity to learn about the volunteer organizations that support Santa Rosa County. This year’s event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at Benny Russell Park, 5417 W Spencer Field Road in Pace. Various organizations will showcase what their organizations do for the Santa Rosa community and be available for demonstrations. Food will be available, as well as activities for kids.

The ARES team will operate a full 24-hour field day, ham radio’s open house, from 1 p.m. on Saturday., June 22 to Sunday, June 23 for their annual operating event. Field Day is held every June with over 40,000 ham radio operators throughout North America. Ham radio operators set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to the community and the nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933 and remains the most popular event in ham radio.
