Bright green paintballs whizzed through the humid air in all directions. Many zoomed past or contacted the advancing three-Airmen team desperately trying to reach a casualty 50 yards away.

Green paint splattered on and blended in with the vegetation the Airmen used as cover as they moved closer, their teammate in sight. The team battled their enemy back and reached the wounded. The Airmen provided quick tourniquet triage and dragged the casualty to safety.

This was the 96th Medical Group’s care-under-fire drill June 2, part of the required week-long tactical combat casualty care tier three training course. It is a three-year or pre-deployment training requirement for all Air Force medics.
