7-year-old dies after crash on Red Rock Road

A 7-year-old from Holt has died following a crash on Red Rock Road on Friday evening, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP report says that the accident was between a marron SUV, driven by a 73-year-old, and a red pick up truck driven by a 59-year-old from Ponce De Leon.

The FHP report was updated on Monday afternoon and says the following:
“The red pickup truck (Vehicle 1) was traveling south on Sandy Forest Road approaching Bryant Bridge Road. The Maroon SUV (Vehicle 2) was traveling west on Bryant Bridge Road approaching Sandy Forest Road. Driver 1, of the red pickup truck, failed to stop at the stop sign for the southbound travel of Sandy Forest Road. The front of the red pickup truck collided with the right side of the Maroon SUV on Bryant Bridge Road. The red pickup truck then rotated in a counter clockwise direction before coming to final rest on the southwest shoulder of the intersection. The Maroon SUV rotated in counterclockwise direction before overturning onto its left side, coming to final rest west of the intersection on the south side of the road. As of August 17th around 100 pm, the 7 year old sadly succumb to his injuries and passed away.”

The maroon SUV also had a 7-year-old and 8-year-old as passengers. The 7-year-old was life flighted before passing away on Saturday, according to FHP. The 8-year-old and the driver were transported by ground to Pensacola Sacred Hospital.

The driver of the pickup was transported by ground to Santa Rosa Medical Center.
