Pace High School’s Teacher of the Year never thought he would follow in his mother’s footsteps in her teaching career. Now they both work at the same school.

Growing up, Kurt Chism was unsure of his career path. His mother, Karlyn, was a teacher, but he did not plan to follow in her footsteps.

Students start their day in Kurt Chism’s history class. The classroom is decorated with flags from around the world.
