Central and Jay move ahead after rivalry match canceled
Jay and Central warmed up on the court as music played ahead of a highly anticipated volleyball match between two rivals Thursday night.
The potential excitement of the evening soon fizzled out as the second official never showed up, forcing the cancelation of the match.

Jay is atop Rural Region 1 and is the No. 1 team in the state. Baker is fourth in the region.
Pace grad Brandon Sproat turns in strong second start for Mets
Former Pace Patriot Brandon Sproat made his second career start for the New York Mets on Saturday.
Though the Mets lost 3-2 to Texas, Sproat turned in another strong outing, throwing six scoreless innings.
Cross-country teams compete at Argo Invitational
Pace’s boys cross-country team finished third overall at the Argo Invitational Sept. 13 at the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
L.E.A.D Academy’s girls team took fifth overall at the meet and Jay’s girls team was also in the top 10 of the standings, placing ninth.
Unbeaten Jay volleyball team ranked atop region
Jay’s volleyball team is atop Rural Region 1 in the first set of FHSAA regional rankings.
The Royals are unbeaten through 10 games and are second in the state overall. Central is also in the top four in the region and 13th in the state.
Central Jaguars fall at home to Northview
Central’s football team is still looking for its first win of 2025 after falling 46-8 to Northview Friday night at home.
War on Highway 4! Jay nearly rallies for win over Baker
Jay made the trip down Highway 4 on Friday night for a football matchup against Baker. In what would turn out to be a memorable installment in the longstanding rivalry, Baker came out on top 29-20.
