Milton will not support any city events for the rest of 2026, including the Veterans Day Parade, Light Up Milton and the Milton Christmas Parade, as the city recovers from Hurricane Isaias, Mayor Heather Lindsay said Oct. 21.

The United Cajun Navy, based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, cooked pork, pasta and green beans for about 500 sheriff’s office employees. Chef Josh Austin said the meal took 80 pounds of pasta to make.

A week after Hurricane Isaias, Milton is finding broken gas and water lines as city officials are still in emergency response mode, Mayor Heather Lindsay said Oct. 16.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Oct. 13 that the state “never mandated” a reopening date for Santa Rosa County schools after Hurricane Isaias, a day after Superintendent Karen Barber said the state directed them to reopen Oct. 14.

The Santa Rosa County School Board heard from numerous parents and teachers Oct. 13 advocating or school not to reopen the next day.

Santa Rosa County public schools will reopen Wednesday, Oct. 14, under a state directive, even though Hurricane Isaias damaged several campuses, including Milton High School, where the storm tore open the gym’s roof.

Hurricane Isaias blew open the front doors of Bagdad Methodist Church and tore siding from the steeple, but the historic church, according to its lead pastor, seems to have survived the storm.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Oct. 11 outside a Waffle House in East Milton that the effects of Hurricane Isaias were some of the oddest he’s seen from a tropical system.
