Murder suspect apprehended

Toby James White, 31, was apprehended Saturday, Jan. 25. White was wanted for second-degree murder. The murder took place on Jan. 20 on Old Oak Road in Milton.

The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 22 issued a plea asking for the public’s help in locating White.

Toby James White was captured Saturday through a collaboration of agencies on the ground.

In the statement by the Sheriff’s Office Saturday, they thanked a list of agencies involved in the search and eventual location of White. The list includes the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Highway Patrol, Suwanee Correctional Institution, Mayo Correctional Institution, Baker Correctional Institution, and Taylor Correctional Institution.

Toby James White is being held on second degree murder charges in connection with a homicide Jan. 20 on Old Oak Road in Milton.

The Sheriff’s Office said, “Their coordinated efforts ensured this dangerous individual was taken into custody safely and without further incident.

The homicide investigation remains active and additional details will be released when available.
