Chumuckla woman dies in house fire

A house fire in the 8700 block of Chumuckla Highway claimed a woman’s life Monday.

Dispatchers received a report of a house fire at 1:46 p.m., according to Santa Rosa County Public Information Officer Sarah Whitfield. An Allentown Volunteer Fire Department truck found the home engulfed in flame when it arrived at the scene at 1:55 p.m. Units from the Jay, Pace, Whiting Field and Skyline fire departments in Santa Rosa County and the Cantonment and Molino stations of the Escambia County Fire Department also responded to the fire.

Lifeguard Ambulance, the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office, and Escambia River Electric Company also sent units.

Whitfield said responders evaluated a male patient who was not transported. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
