DeSantis, BoCC announce separate broadband awards

The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners tentatively approved spending $1.5 million to help bring rural broadband access to communities along Munson Highway in the northeast part of the county. Just hours earlier, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced an award of almost $3.4 million to expand access in the communities of Allentown, Chumuckla, Pace and Wallace in the county’s northwest.
Gov. Ron DeSantis in February visited the Imogene Theatre in Milton to present a check for slightly more than $2.36 million to local officials including Milton Mayor Heather Lindsay and Charter Communications Group Vice President Marva Johnson. On Monday, the governor announced a second Broadband Opportunity Program grant of more than $3.3 million to help expand broadband internet infrastructure in Santa Rosa County.
