Central’s girls basketball team wasn’t about to let an opportunity for a district win at home slip away Monday night.


Though Baker cut the Jaguars’ lead to eight a couple of times in the third quarter, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities, Central responded and took care of business.

Brady Godwin was on the mound last May when Jay closed the deal on its first state baseball championship since 1970. The Royals defeated Bozeman 6-3 for the crown at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers.


Now his senior season with the Royals is ahead and his college commitment is already squared away as he signed with Pensacola State in November.

Pace’s boys soccer season ended on Saturday as the Patriots lost 2-0 to rival Milton in a District 1-6A quarterfinal in Pace.

Pace and Milton came into Saturday’s District 1-3A weightlifting meet ready to perform at a high level.


The Patriots achieved their mission, sweeping the district crowns in Olympic and traditional, while the Panthers had a strong showing despite their youth.

The District 1-3A girls weightlifting meet is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pace.


It was originally scheduled for Wednesday but had to be moved due to the historic snowstorm that hit Northwest Florida this week.

Taegan Baggett went to state for the first time last season for weightlifting.


She’s hoping to make another run at it this year and has put in extra work outside of school to help that cause.

Navarre’s boys and girls soccer teams are both seeded second and have a bye in the first round. Meanwhile, Pace and Milton will square off Saturday in girls and boys soccer.
