A public hearing will consider the proposed ordinance at 5 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Santa Rosa County Administrative Building. The Board of County Commissioners will discuss it at a zoning meeting Oct. 22.
The proposed ordinance would repeal the existing code, according to a news release from the county, and replace it with a reformatted version that addresses formatting and organizational issues. Officials said it is not a rewrite of the code.
Parts of the current code, including its table of contents, rely on page numbers to direct readers to provisions. Because the code is amended periodically, the text can shift from one page to another, making those page numbers inaccurate.
The new format would remove page numbers from the table of contents, and section numbers would be the new way to identify and locate provisions. Section numbers would be added to document footers to give readers reference points as the page count changes.
