NWS: Drought gripping Florida Panhandle is normal, but wildfire risk is not
The prolonged dry spell settling over the Florida Panhandle may feel unprecedented to residents, but a National Weather Service meteorologist said drought conditions like these are a well-documented feature of the region’s spring climate.
According to the National Weather Service, most of Northwest Florida is under some form of moderate to severe drought, with no relief in sight.
