| Staff Reporters

Memorial Day will be held Monday, May 25, this year. In recognition of the holiday, there are multiple ceremonies planned in Santa Rosa County.

Veterans show their respect at the city of Milton’s Memorial Day event in May 2024.

The Navarre event will be held at Navarre Park at 11 a.m. and will feature a wreath-laying ceremony, an invocation, a presentation of the colors by the Navarre High School NJROTC Honor Guard and guest speakers.

One guest at the Navarre event is retired U.S. Air Force Col. Kris Kane. According to American Legion Post 382 Commander Jason Skobel, Kane will deliver the keynote address.

Each year, the Navarre event features a keynote speaker, typically someone who served in the Armed Forces. Past speakers have included former Navy servicemember Ryan Blackwell, retired Col. Allison Black and retired Col. Kenneth F. Rodriguez.

Navarre Park is located at 8513 Navarre Parkway, west of the Navarre Beach Bridge.
