UPDATE:

Brandon Koger, the principal of Hobbs Middle School sent an update to parents saying that no credible or actionable threat has been made to or about the school.

“At this time, we have concluded the investigation,” Koger wrote, in a message relayed through the school district. “No credible or actionable threat has been made to or about Hobbs Middle School.”

The school district is still investigating the threat at Milton High School. However, the threat may be related to a threat made to a different Milton High School in Wisconsin, which media outlets reported on Sept. 16.

An increased law enforcement presence is at Hobbs Middle School and Milton High School on Tuesday after a possible threat made toward the schools.

The following message was sent to families of students at those two schools:

“We wanted to notify you regarding a social media post that began circulating late yesterday evening regarding a vague threat that may be toward our school,” the message said, via Santa Rosa County District Schools.  “We want to assure you we take every communicated threat seriously. Our school is working alongside Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office and will thoroughly investigate this matter. There will be increased law enforcement and security on campus today, Tuesday September 17.

“If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to an administrator. Your child’s safety is our top priority. Thank you for your support and understanding as we work together to keep our schools safe and our students learning.”

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office said it is “actively investigating and will have extra security on both campuses until our investigation is complete.”
