County rejects Parkland Place North rezoning

The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners followed the recommendation from the county’s zoning board, denying a request to rezone 503 acres off Berryhill Road for a subdivision and neighborhood shopping area that county staff said could hold as many as 2,000 homes.

Commissioner Kerry Smith (left) was the most vocal proponent of a rezoning request for 503 acres near Berryhill Road. The proposal failed to gain support from Commissioner Rhett Rowell, who voted with two other commissioners to deny the request in a 3-2 vote.
