Library Closures

Santa Rosa County Libraries will be closed Friday & Saturday, April 3-4 in observance of Good Friday.  Libraries will resume normal business hours on Monday, April 6.

Tax Aide

Volunteers from AARP Tax-Aide will be assisting with taxes at three Santa Rosa County libraries beginning in February and continuing through April 15. The AARP Tax-Aide program is the nation's largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, providing service to millions of low and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older.  Patrons are served on a first come, first served basis.  Pre-registration is not accepted and space is limited, so arrive early! Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

•              Milton Library

Tuesdays and Wednesdays 1 – 5 p.m.

Thursdays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

•              Navarre Library

Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Storytime

Santa Rosa County Libraries provide storytime for 3 to 5 year olds who are able to attend without a caregiver during the following times from March 23 through May 1:

•              11 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library

•              11 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library

•              11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library

•              11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library

•              11 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times.

Hopeful Hearts – Navarre Library

Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

A series of meetings for "Hopeful Hearts," a bereavement support group, will be held at the Navarre Library on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The weekly sessions will address grief support and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving over the loss of a loved one. All materials will be provided, refreshments will be served, and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate.  The programs are held at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.

Genealogy Research Assistance – Milton Library

Mondays 9 a.m. – noon, Tuesdays, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

On Mondays from 9 a.m. – noon and Tuesdays from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St., to give general genealogy research guidance, one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers, and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.

R.E.A.D. Dogs – Navarre Library

April 8, 4 – 5:30 p.m.

Come, Sit, Stay & R.E.A.D. with a Furry Friend in the Navarre Library April 8, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Registration is required. The program is held on the second Wednesday of each month in the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre. Contact the Navarre Library for more information or to sign up.

Friends of the Milton Library Board Meeting – April 9, 1 p.m.

The Friends of the Milton Library Board meeting will be held at the Milton Library at 1 p.m. April 9.  The Milton Library is located at 5541 Alabama St. in Milton.  Please visit the Friends website at http://friendsofthemiltonlibrary.wordpress.com/ for more information.

Friends of the Milton Library Book Sale – April 10 -11

Join the Friends of the Milton Library for their book sale in the Milton Library meeting room. Sale dates are Friday, April 10 from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. – noon. Page Turners Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library

April 10, 10:30 a.m.

Join us in the Gulf Breeze Library study room for our fiction book club. Page Turners meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Friday of every other month. This month's selection is All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. There is a limit of 20 participants, so please call the library or drop by to sign up! The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr. in Gulf Breeze.

R.E.A.D. Dogs – Pace Library

April 11, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Youth Sewing Class – Gulf Breeze Library

April 11, 10:30 a.m.

Ms. Shelley Brunson will host a free sewing class for youth at the Gulf Breeze Library. She’ll teach how to measure for the perfect fit and construct a simple item of clothing. Supplies will be provided. Registration is not required. Join the fun and experience the joy of sewing! Contact the Gulf Breeze Library for additional information. Celebrate National Library Week – April 12 – 18

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. It is a week designated to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers. Visit any five of the Santa Rosa County Libraries in Gulf Breeze, Jay, Milton, Navarre and Pace to discover the "Unlimited possibilities @ your library®." 

Friends of the Navarre Library Board Meeting – April 13, 10:15 a.m.

Board meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 10:15 a.m. at the Navarre Library. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre. Please see the Friends website at www.friendsofnavarrelibrary.org for more information.

Movie Matinee – Navarre Library

April 14, 2 p.m.

How can you tell what's in its spell? How can you tell unless you've tried it? Wait for that kiss you're certain of. And let your heart decide when you're in love. This month’s classic movie lets you learn how seven siblings answered those questions and found seven spouses. Join fellow movie lovers at the Navarre Library at 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month, except during summer months. Each program is open to the public and there is no charge or prior registration required. Refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre. 

Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Board of Director’s Meeting – April 14, 5 p.m.

Earth Day Expo – Navarre Library

April 22, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

In honor of the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, visit your local library, your community’s original renewable resource. The Navarre Library will host an Earth Day Expo from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on April 22 with activities throughout the day. Children and adults can make earth friendly crafts. Presentations by master gardeners will include topics such as water conservation, edible landscapes, and earth friendly pesticides. You can also enjoy a presentation from local landscaper and author, Skip Orth. There will be a demonstration of scrap metal sculpturing by Wayne Chenevert, grape vine weaving by Charleen Clark, and bird house construction with Brian Vander Wilt (preregistration required). Hospice Hour – Navarre Library

April 22, 3:30 p.m.

A series of hospice programs will be presented at the Navarre Library on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Shannon Snowden, R.N. and Karen Englert of Emerald Coast Hospice will explain how hospice and home health care services work, what types of services are provided, and when hospice or home health care services might be beneficial. The program will be held in the Navarre Library Meeting Room, located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.

Friends of the Navarre Library Book Sale – April 23-25

The Friends of the Navarre Library will hold a book sale Thursday through Saturday, April 23-25, in the meeting room of the library. The hours are as follows: 

•         April 23 from 2 – 6 p.m. for members only (customers may join at the door)

•         April 24 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

•         April 25 from 9 a.m. – noon.

Preservation Week – April 26 – May 2

Stop by any of the Santa Rosa County libraries to see displays that will show you how to care for library materials. Libraries are located in Gulf Breeze, Jay, Milton, Navarre, and Pace.
