Santa Rosa County Animal Services to host a drive-through microchip clinic

“This is an essential step in pet ownership to ensure our residents’ animals are easily reunited if need be, and this clinic makes it affordable,” said Randy Lambert, Animal Services Chief. “Our animal control officers, our fire departments and most veterinarian clinics have the microchip readers, so this event is a great resource to help keep our community animals out of the shelter and in their loving homes where they belong.”
For the safety of shelter staff, aggressive animals will not be eligible for microchips. Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter will remain open for regular operations on Friday, May 9 for the clinic. Microchip participants should enter Pine Forest Road from the north end, (Old Bagdad Highway) and exit from the south end of Pine Forest Road (Carroll Road). Other motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes, the clinic route map is linked below:
Microchips are $10 per animal, cash only. Participants are encouraged to pre-register animals online. Those unable to register online may register in person. All animals must be secured in the vehicle and cats should be secured in a carrier. Microchips can take a few minutes to ensure they are properly injected and scanned. Community members wishing to participate should plan to arrive early and expect longer waits than other drive-through clinics.
