Sheriff looking for victim of attempted carjacking
Deputies responded to the area for a report of a two-vehicle collision with injuries. While en route dispatch was advised one of the occupants exited their vehicle and was walking around armed with a tire iron. Upon arrival, the suspect, later identified as Brian Joseph Stacken, of Shalimar, was instructed to drop the object, but he ignored deputies’ commands and fled on foot to the nearby Circle K.
In the parking lot he attempted to gain entry to an unoccupied car and, being unsuccessful, he moved to an occupied moving vehicle. When Stacken attempted to jump through the passenger window the victim was instructed to drive away to prevent him from entering.
Deputies deployed non-lethal use of force and took Stacken into custody. He was transported to a medical center for evaluation and then transported to the Santa Rosa Detention Facility.
Stacken is currently being charged with the following:
- 07.2c – Aggravated Assault on specified personnel (2 counts)
- 021.1a – Aggravated Assault with deadly weapon without intent
- 02.2b – Burglary conveyance (Armed)
- 02 – Resist arrest without violence
He is currently being held at the Santa Rosa Detention Facility pending first appearance.
The Sheriff’s Office is now asking the victim of the occupied car to come forward, by coming forward the potential for further felony charges for the suspect.
Photographs of the incident are attached as well as the following description: Black or dark blue in color, 2015/16 Volkswagen Jetta. The vehicle has a light colored (poss. White) graphic on the rear right passenger window to include a similar colored graphic around the fuel cap area.
