Meet Elijah Nall, the student behind the camera at Pace

The rest is kind of history.

“I started taking photos and I realized I was decent at it. I kept going,” Nall said.

Nall is now a familiar face at various events at Pace, including football games on Friday nights, where he’s shooting for the yearbook and covering Patriot games for the Press Gazette.

He was the photo editor of the yearbook last year and is the junior editor this year. And when he’s at a game, or shooting any event for that matter, he’s focused on telling a story through his work.

“I look for the best photos and then tell a story with those photos. In contests I’ve entered, I’ve seen what they are looking for and use that as a guideline,” Nall said.

Nall said photojournalism is something he’s come to love, though he hopes to one day get into video production.

As far as his photography goes, he’s impressed with how far he’s come.

“My photos have changed a lot. I’ve had good advisors here to help me along. I’m interested in seeing where it goes from here,” Nall said.

Nall said being able to shoot sporting events has made him feel like part of the team in some ways.

“I love to be around the action,” Nall said. “I’m not that athletic, but love sports and this is a way to do it without playing. I’ve built relationships with the coaches and athletes, and that’s allowed me to get into different spots where I can tell even more of a story.”

And his peers have taken notice of his work.

“My handle on Instagram is ENall Captures and I’ll be in the hallway and someone will yell ‘hey ENall.’ It’s fun to have that interaction,” Nall said.
