Gulf Breeze High School teacher arrested for innapropriate relationship with student

| Staff Reporters
Gulf Breeze High School teacher Molly Mersereau was arrested July 29 following the Gulf Breeze Police Department’s investigation of a Crime Stoppers tip.

Mersereau, 36, has been charged with engaging in an innapropriate relationship with a student, two counts of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, second-degree felony criminal solicitation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Tift, deputies began investigating the anonymous tip and quickly learned that Mersereau had given the student a burner phone to communicate privately and discreetly.

“Love letters showed there was an active relationship,” Tift said.

The student denied having any relationship with the educator.

Mersereau was nominated in both February 2023 and March 2024 for Santa Rosa County District Schools’ Rookie Teacher of the Year Award. Since her arrest, her teacher profile has been removed from the GBHS website.

On July 30, a judge set Mersereau’s bond to total $30,000, with the condition that the teacher must wear a GPS and not have any contact with the victim.

This is a developing story.
