Celebrate America 250 at your local library throughout June, July

With the United States of America’s 250th anniversary approaching, Santa Rosa County Library System is showing its patriotic side with a series of events at various branches.

From June 22 through July 2, Navarre Library (8484 James M. Harvell Road) will host the America 250 Craft Event. According to Santa Rosa County, people can drop-in at any time during between June 22 and July 2 to make a craft inspired by Independence Day.

Supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library.

On June 30, the Navarre Library will host a free screening reel of “The American Revolution,” a 2026 documentary series by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt. This screening will feature “Military History,” a selected clip reel with excerpts that explore the people, events, ideas, and lasting impact of America’s fight for independence.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

A showing of the same reel will also be shown at Gulf Breeze Library (1060 Shoreline Drive) June 30, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

That same day at the Milton Library (5541 Alabama St.), there will be a family craft event.

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., families are invited to Milton Library to make Independence Day crafts. Supplies will be provided, including paint, brushes and materials to create patriotic designs.

Participants may bring a clean, light-colored shirt to decorate. Supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Milton Library.

Gulf Breeze Library will host a red, white and blue rock painting event July 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Decorated rocks will be displayed at the library through the end of July. Supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library.

At the Pace Library (4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.), a craft event will be held July 2, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event is described as a celebration with patriotic crafts, snacks and star-spangled fun inspired by Independence Day. Supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Pace Library.

Later that day, the Pace Library will host a screening of “The American Revolution” series. The film will run from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and feature “Voices & Visions,” a selected clip reel with excerpts which explore the people, events, ideas, and lasting impact of America’s fight for independence.

At Jay Library (5259 Booker Lane), July 2 will feature the event, ‘Stars, Stripes, and Sno-cones.’ The event will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The library system invites families to come and enjoy Sno-cones, stomp rockets, games and more. Supplies provided by the Friends of the Milton Library.

Six free screenings of “The American Revolution” series will take place throughout July at the Family History and Research Center (6275 Dogwood Drive) in Milton. Different episodes in the series will be screened on different days.

Showtimes are either 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the following dates:

– July 7—”Documentary Overview”
– July 9—”Faith & Freedom”
– July 14—”Military History”
– July 16—”Revolutionary Youth”
– July 21—”The Spirit of Service”
– July 23—”Voices & Visions”

Milton Library is also hosting a screening of “The American Revolution.” They are showing the “Revolutionary Youth” episode July 9, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Fast forward to July 14 and Milton Library will host a 50 States Trivia competition. The trivia game will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. During trivia, people can compete for prizes. Supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Milton Library.
