Beginning later on Monday, multiple rounds of showers are expected to impact the local area, with increasing confidence in the forecast of storms producing heavy rainfall.
On Tuesday, all of Escambia County and much of Santa Rosa County enters a “slight” risk for flooding. That lowers to a “marginal” risk on Wednesday. Forecasters say anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rain can fall over the next three days, with localized spots receiving anywhere from 5 to 8 inches of rain.
NWS forecasters say that localized flooding can be prevented by clearing storm gutters and storm drains. Forecasters also say to have multiple ways of receiving warnings, especially for those hiking, camping, or having outdoor plans.
In urban areas, heavy rain can cause flooding of highways, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas and poor drainage areas. Officials advise against crossing flooded roads, cars can get stalled or swept away due to fast moving water.
