| Staff Reporters

In a season marked by growth, vision, and legacy, Lighthouse Private Christian Academy is stepping confidently into the future – placing leadership into the hands of a dynamic new generation while expanding its impact across campuses and into higher education.

A new generation takes the lead

After years of faithful leadership and foundational growth, Lighthouse is officially passing the torch to what many are affectionately calling “the young bucks” – a passionate team ready to carry the mission forward.

Leading this transition is Ricky Broxson, who steps in as Interim Head of School, bringing energy and vision to guide the academy into its next phase.

Supporting him is a strong and strategic leadership team:

  • Collin Morris, now serving as Chief Operations Officer, is ensuring the continued excellence of day-to-day operations.
  • Zach Pendley, Director of Development, whose behind-the-scenes leadership and donor engagement has been instrumental – securing financial stability and even helping the academy operate mortgage-free.
  • Logan Morris, Financial Comptroller, leading financial strategy and connecting vision with community investment.

Together, this team represents not just continuity – but momentum.

Founders refocus on higher education

As the academy’s leadership transitions, its pioneering leaders are not stepping away – they are stepping up.

Dr. Joanna Johannes is now focusing her efforts as President of Lighthouse Christian College, guiding its academic and spiritual direction.

Alongside her, Dr. Coby Thompson will serve as Provost and Chief Academic Officer, overseeing academic excellence while continuing as a consultant for the Gulf Breeze campus – ensuring stability during this transition.

A college on the rise

What began as a bold vision in 2021 is now becoming a reality. Lighthouse Christian College recently achieved its first level of accreditation and is celebrating a historic milestone: its first three graduating students.

This intimate but powerful moment reflects the heart of Lighthouse – where students are not just numbers, but individuals prepared for purpose.

With affordable, online accessibility and a Christ-centered curriculum woven through every course, Lighthouse Christian College is meeting a critical need in the community: higher education rooted in faith and truth.

Growing more than minds

At Lighthouse’s Milton campus, education goes beyond the classroom – right into the soil.

Students are actively cultivating a campus garden, growing:

  • Blueberries
  • Tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Peppers

And now, a brand-new tradition is taking root: each senior class will plant a citrus tree. This year’s class will be planting a tangelo tree, symbolizing growth, legacy, and the fruit of their time at Lighthouse.

It’s a living reminder that what is planted today will bless generations to come.

Hands-on learning that prepares for life

Lighthouse is also investing in hands-on learning through its growing culinary program led by Ms. Toody. Students learn essential cooking skills, kitchen safety, and teamwork in a real-world setting – building confidence while creating something meaningful. Then, the students serve small portions of the food they have prepared at lunch time as a bonus.

The auto mechanics program, led by William Johnson, gives students practical experience with skills like oil changes and basic car repair. It’s a student favorite, offering a chance to get their hands dirty while learning useful, real-life skills.

Expanding vision across campuses

From Milton to Pensacola to Gulf Breeze, Lighthouse continues to expand both its reach and its impact.

The Pensacola campus is preparing to launch an ROTC program, building on a strong foundation of graduates entering military service and leadership. With experienced veterans already on staff, the campus is uniquely positioned to develop disciplined, purpose-driven young leaders.

Meanwhile, dedicated campus leaders like Pamela Miller and Tim Lovering continue to provide strong, steady guidance on the ground.

Rooted in community, focused on the future

At its core, Lighthouse is more than a school – it’s a community. A place where students are known, families are connected, and faith is foundational.

As leadership transitions and new initiatives take shape, one thing remains unchanged: the mission to educate, equip, and empower the next generation—academically, spiritually, and personally.

With fresh leadership, expanding programs, and a growing college, Lighthouse Private Christian Academy is not just keeping pace with the future—it’s helping shape it.
