She started working with hair at the age of 17. She went to cosmetology school in Hollywood, CA. One could say hairstyling runs in her blood. Her mother, father, six uncles, four aunts and grandfather were in the hair industry.
The Hair Society owner, Emily Andreu, renovated an older house and turned it into a hidden gem – an artsy salon in a residential neighborhood in the heart of Bagdad. Her husband is an artist and has beautiful abstract painted canvases displayed all over the walls of the salon, giving it a colorful and fun vibe.
Judy has worked alongside world-renowned hairstylists like Guy Tang, Angus Mitchell, Robert Cromeans, Noogie, Beth Minardi, Jose Eber, Farouk and many more. She was even one of the 27 hairstylists for the Miss America pageant.
She holds many certifications and is a licensed cosmetologist in five states. She is a certified educator for the Law of Color and loves teaching other hairdressers the art of hair. She’s owned her own salon in California, Nevada and Utah. Judy still owns her salon in California and plans to pass it on to her daughter one day, but still travels there regularly. She spends three weeks here in Milton, then flies to California to see her west coast clients for two weeks.
Specializing in color, cuts and styling, Judy is a master stylist and wouldn’t do anything else every day.
“I absolutely love it. I’ve never worked a day in my life,” she said. “I love making people feel the way they deserve to feel. It doesn’t matter to me who you are or where you came from. You’re just as special as the next.” Everyone deserves to look in the mirror and feel confident and beautiful.
Judy just discovered the Florida Panhandle a year and a half ago when she vacationed in Destin and decided to take a drive. She found Milton, loved the sweet city and decided she would move here one day and continue doing what she knows and loves – hair.
“I speak hair. English is my second language,” Judy said.
Judy’s attention to detail and experience set her apart from the rest. She goes above and beyond for her clients, educating them about their hair and how to make it look the best it possibly can. She develops long-term relationship with her clients and is invested in their hair.
“I don’t just do their hair. I actually give them all the tools of the trade for them to keep their hair going and looking the way they did when they left the shop. To me, it’s very important to educate them and to teach them,” Judy said. “That’s all part of the package deal with me.
